An Attitude of Gratitude

(written by Ruth Lauridsen)
I had being noticing such a grouchy attitude in my heart and so I decided to do a study on what God has to say on the subject!

This is what I came up with!

And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. Numbers 11:1

Murmur: Express one’s discontent about (someone or something)

Complain: Express dissatisfaction or annoyance about something.

Grumble: Complain about something in a bad tempered way.

Moreover, brethren, I would not have you ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;… But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were over thrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted… neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for our admonition, upon whom the end of the world are come. — 1 Corinthians 10: 1, 5-6, 10-11

Do all things without murmurings and disputing:  —Philippians 2:14

INSTEAD

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,And bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ: 2 Corinthians 10:5

Whatsoever things are true, think on these things. —Philippians 4:8

Whatever is true,….think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
Philippians 4:8 AMP—

In every thing give thanks : for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.— 1 Thessalonians 5:18

It is so easy to dwell on the things that are painful, that annoy us or what happened yesterday, last month or last year. But God wants us to give thanks-- to think on what is true. What is true for the moment we are in now? Yesterday is gone, Today is what is before us. So whenever you are feeling grouchy or unthankful, why not STOP, ask God for help, think on what is true and give thanks!
