David's Reaction to Abigail

I'm Wrong and you're Right!

1 Samuel 25:32-33, 35 “And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:
And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.
So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.”
I like the way David responded to Abigail. I think it must have taken a lot of humility and wisdom on David's part to stop, listen and take Abigail's advice. He had to admit that he was wrong and that she was right. That's not easy to do (especially for a man to say it to a woman!). That takes humility!
How do we react to other people's advice? Of course, not all advice is good. And we shouldn't take everyone's advice.
But do we stop and listen? Or are we too proud?
Are we humble enough to admit that we are sometimes wrong?
Are we humble enough to take someone else's advice?
Do you listen to your parents advice? Or do you think you know it all?
It's not easy to admit that others are right and we are wrong. It hurts our pride!
Proverbs 15:5a “A fool despiseth his father's instruction:...”
15:20b “...A foolish man despiseth his mother.”
11:2 “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom (In another words, it's wise to be humble).”
Are you wise or are you a fool?
