“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2Timothy 2:22

Have you ever thought about why Joseph ran? Men are generally a lot stronger than women, so it's not like she could have forced him. Was he afraid of her?

Joseph was putting a Biblical principle into practice. The Bible teaches us to “Flee fornication.”

The word “flee” means to run away from a place or situation of danger.

God teaches us to flee and not fight! Isn't that a cowardly thing? No! It's a wise thing! You're not a coward if you run from a dangerous animal. You would be a fool to try and fight it with your bare hands.

Proverbs 14:16 says “A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.”

Even though Joseph was a godly man, he was capable of sinning in this way. We are all capable of the worst sin--no one is 'strong enough.' That's why we need to run from sin and temptation. We can't trust ourselves.
