Don't Hide from God!

(Lessons from Eve #6)
And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8b

Are you trying to hide from God?
Is there something you have done that you are trying to hide and keep a secret?
I have just been reading a story about a girl who did something very wrong. But instead of owning up and confessing what she'd done, for years she did her very best to hide her sin. Guess what? She was very miserable, she was always fearful of people finding out and her secret eventually leaked out. It wasn't a true story, but I'm sure it happens often in real life.
Hiding is not the answer.
Hiding our sin is like digging a hole  in the dirt and burying a seed or a bulb! It won't stay hidden. It will grow and eventually come out in the open.

What's the point of hiding anyway? There was no point for Adam and Eve to hide! God knew exactly where they were and what they had done.
God knows exactly what you have done too. He sees in the dark and He sees what no one else sees.
Sin separates us from God.
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
When Adam and Eve had sinned, they had no reason to believe that God would forgive them. They had no promises like we have now.
But we know that Jesus Christ came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose again, to make it possible for us to come back to God.
Because of what Jesus Christ has done, we know that God can and will forgive us if we confess and forsake our sin.
We have promises like...
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Instead of hiding what you have done, confess it to God and ask for forgiveness.
And if you aren't sorry for your sin, confess that to God and ask Him to make you sorry and to show you how wrong it really is!

You can be close to God and enjoy His presence and forgiveness!
