Dad knocked on his friend's door, expecting his friend to answer the door. Instead his friend's father answered. He shook my dad by the hand and said, "Are you on the road to Heaven?" My dad nearly fell over! "More or less," he answered. "No, you're either on the road to Heaven or the road to Hell," the kindly old man explained.
I have heard my dad tell that story many times. That old man and his wife were the ones who pointed my parents in the direction of heaven.
Now I am asking the same question to you. Are YOU on the road to Heaven?
This is the most important question. The most important thing in life is for you to know God.
When you are dead and gone, what does it matter how popular you were? What does it matter what boy liked you? What does it matter whether you wore the latest fashions? What does it matter what your friends thought of you? What will it matter how much fun you had? The only thing that will matter then is that you are prepared to meet God.
Are you prepared?
You have no idea when your life will end, so how can you risk not getting to know God now?
Don't put something so important off. When you get to know God, you will find out that the best days of your life are ahead of you, NOT behind you! I am so glad that I got to know God when I was young. Of course, living for God is not easy. But I wouldn't swap it for anything else in the world. What can be greater than knowing your sins are forgiven, you are going to Heaven, you are at peace with God and your life is in His hands?
You can get to know God by facing up to the fact that you are a sinner who deserves hell. By believing and trusting in Jesus' sacrifice on the cross as the only way to pay for your sins. By turning away from the things you know are wrong in your life (God will give you the power to do that). By searching the Bible and asking God to show Himself to you through His Word. By putting into practice what you read in the Bible.
